Havening Techniques®
You don't have to tell me the whole story.
Havening is a gentle, hands-on psychosensory practice that works through touch and quiet attention rather than talking everything through. What you share is up to you. So is what we do next.
Certified Havening Techniques® Practitioner
Red Beach, Auckland · In person · 60 to 75 minutes · $80, koha welcome
Yes, there is touch. And you are in charge of it.
Havening uses light stroking on the arms, the hands and the face. That is the part people want to know about before anything else, so let's get it out of the way early.
I will always tell you what I am about to do and ask you first. Some people prefer to apply the touch themselves while I talk them through it, which works in much the same way. You can change your mind partway through, and you do not need to explain why.

Who I see
The people who come to me are carrying anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, phobias, relationship difficulties, or a sense of self-belief that has taken a knock. Others come to work on focus, goal setting and performance, including in sport.
A few arrive knowing exactly what they want to sit with. Others just know that something has been heavier lately, or that something has always been there and they cannot pinpoint what it is. Any of those is fine. You do not need the right words before you come.
You are the one doing the work
I am guiding. That is my part. The shifts happen in your own body, and you are the one making them. I am not the expert on you. You are, and you always were.
Which also means we are building something between us as we go. Connection first, so there is enough safety and trust in the room for anything else to happen. That is not the preamble to the work. It is a good part of it.
What actually happens

We talk for a bit first
So I understand what you are bringing and you get a sense of me. I explain which technique I think will suit and why, and I show you the touch before I use it.
Then we work
You stay awake, aware and able to stop at any point. Nothing happens that you have not agreed to.
Afterwards we debrief
How it went, how you feel, anything you want to ask. I do not rush people out the door, and I check in with you again a couple of days later.

I'm Lisa
I trained in psychology and counselling, and I spent a long time in the world of talking things through. I still believe in it. I also came to believe it was not always getting people all the way to where they wanted to be.
Havening is a different way of working, and it is the one I offer now, from a room in Red Beach. Whether it is right for you is something we would find out together, not something I can promise.

Not sure yet?
That is completely natural. Most people have a question or two before they book, and I would far rather answer them than have you sit on it.
